XTA (/ˈɛks ti ə/), legally Kristia Schneider, was forced to exist in 1990 in Jakarta, Indonesia. As the sixth child in a relatively poor family she was only allowed to see how the family struggle to make ends meet for she was too young to help. At the age 4 she realized how being a minority (Christian family in a “Muslim” country) taught her the very nature of human being: the primitive need to feel superior towards others.

As a human being herself she has been struggling to accept this very nature since then. In her own family, at school, in society, in the world, she feels out of place. From dreaming to be a pure objective eyeball to multiple times attempting to escape the existence completely, she kept looking for the essence of her existence. After many unfruitful endeavors in natural sciences, she found comfort in existentialism; the comfort that ended her journey to find the “truth” and let her rest to exist.

“existentiae art” – the art of existence – is her idea of life, a safe space for all human beings including herself to be flawed, subjective, and free (to be human) without harming others. Every piece created is inspired by and tells a very personal experience or moment in her existence. She hopes to bring comfort to herself and others through her creations.
